"We pass the word around; we ponder how the case is put by different people, we read the poetry; we meditate over the literature; we play the music; we change our minds; we reach an understanding. Society evolves this way, not by shouting each other down, but by the unique capacity of unique, individual human beings to comprehend each other." - Lewis Thomas

Lady of the Forest

Cool air whipped my face
Like whispering willows
Tell the secrets of the swelling apple
The illusion of lifes finale,
Ringing dry the drops of time.

A girl stood watching
Eager eyes telling this story,
An empty wind paints a landscape
Gentle brush strokes creating illusion
Life wandering like ticking clocks.

Her hands were clasped together,
She appeared to be real,
An embroidered seal on her chest,
A broken branch dancing
Orchestral nature through whistling woods.

Watching in wonder,
The girl moved with angelic guidance
Her words as soft as wind's lapping
Elegant lady-like hands pull me down
The grass watch, whispering to one another.

As each broken branch falls,
We await our lady
Vicariously watching for our time spent.
She sings through our harden shells,
Dreaming of shores below a cliff.

The sky above began to swirl and dance,
As clouds began to form and collapse
It went dark and for a moment
I witnessed our lady crying
As her tear drop hit, she was gone.

"Life is an illusion in which we wander endless. Life is an illusion in which we can not walk out of" - Authors note 101

  1. I've had a super hectic week and am exhausted beyond belief and reading that somehow just let every knot loosen in my body and I now feel like jello. That was really just what I needed when I needed it. Are you psychic? :-)

  2. Autumn,

Haha. Sometimes I wonder ;) I'm really glad my writing could help you. I honestly was not too sure if I liked this poem or not.

  3. I think the poem's nice. It's really dreamlike, really gentle and well-written. You're very good at depicting landscapes or universes. I could close my eyes and see the whole thing! Good job!

  4. Great poem! Felt like I was there. And like Autumnforest, it gives the reader a relief. Crazy. Loved it!

  5. You got a way with words, mister. The title kind of reminds me of my human.
